Stop and pause
Everyday, at bedtime, our daughter watches a little Cocomelon video as she brushes her teeth.
The other day, as “The Wheels on the Bus” was just about to end, a question hit me:
Whatever happened to the “stop” button for audio/video?
When we were younger, our tape decks and CD players all had distinct buttons for play, pause, stop, and a few others. These days, on our devices and online, I only ever see play and pause, never stop.
It’s as if we never actually stop consuming media and are forever caught between consumption–a slight pause to live life between endless content.
